IRS going paperless

Teresa Mears’ January 13, 2011 article in The Associated Press sheds light on a new paycard program offered by the IRS as a way to help unbanked tax payers receive their tax refunds electronically, which makes the tax filing process cheaper and more efficient for everyone involved.

Tax refunds via direct deposit arrive much quicker than the traditional paper check approach, and help tax filers avoid the rising fees of check cashing stores. If the filer doesn’t have a bank account, a paycard can be the perfect alternative.
